Bristow's Hidden
Treasures
Bristow
has many hidden treasures in its midst. It's Route 66 Main Street is
lined with historical buildings in a variety of shapes and sizes with
each having its own story. Stop into any business and owners are happy
to share the rich background story of their buildings.
Turning left on 9th Street and going
a few blocks, you'll find the old Chrysler Plymouth sign.

Right below the Chrysler sign, is the
old Chrysler Dealership, now used by Krumme Oil. It's beautiful light
brick facade is complimented with bright blue art deco tiles.
Great Deal Varieties, on the corner of 9th and Route
66 Main Street, is a former gas station also with a beautiful art deco
style facade. A great place to find that special something at a bargain
price. Also has Route 66 items.
A more traditional style gas station is found on 6th Street.
It's current use by the owners are weekend garage sales.
Just
off Route 66 Main Street on 9th is the old Bristow Junior High building.
Once slated to be torn down to make way for a new school, the site for
Collins elementary was changed to a location nearer the current High
School. This building now houses batting cages for indoor practice and
is used for storage.
This
painted advertisement on the side of the building on the corner of Route
66 Main Street and 8th is just one of many such signs in the town.

The Holy Family Mural is on the back of St. Joseph's
Church at 308 N. Elm Street, one block off Route 66 Main Street west
on 8th.
