BRISTOW, OK – Bristow’s First Annual Art in the Park is set
for this Sunday, October 29 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at the Bristow City
Park. Artisan booths
will be set up around the walking track at the park entrance. Entertainment
will be held at the Bristow Amphitheater. Concession on site.
Come eat and enjoy the arts at this RAIN OR SHINE event.
Art in the Park was developed to show appreciation for and to showcase our
local talent and maximize their exposure.
Added to the festival is a Route
66 Shield Decorating Contest much like the decorated buffaloes
and penguins in other cities only this contest uses a wooden
shield that is roughly 26 x 30 inches. Entry fee will be $10
for under age 16 and non-profit organizations; $15 for over
age 16; and $20 for businesses. Fee includes provision of one
of the shields. With paid fee per each entry, artists may have
multiple entries. Entrants may also commission an artist to
design their entry by indicating such on their submission application.
All shields will remain in the possession of the Bristow Chamber
for a one year period to be displayed as the Chamber may designate.
The winning shields will go on tour as a traveling
exhibit to be displayed at different locations along Route 66 during 2007.
At the end of the one year, all shields will be returned to the
artists/entrants or artists/entrants may donate the shield to become
permanent property of the Chamber of Commerce. Shields donated to the Chamber will be
auctioned off at the 2007 Art in the Park festival with all proceeds to
benefit the Bristow Chamber of Commerce.
Artisan exhibit booths will be displayed around the
beautiful walking track portion of the park. Categories will include
paintings, photography, pottery, graphics, sculptures, jewelry, mixed media
and body art. Also included will be musicians, film and theater. A separate
Market area will be available for non-artisan exhibitors.
